What are assessments?

Our assessments come in the form of quizzes and exit tickets.  The quizzes usually will be multiple choice questions related to an upcomming topic, or as a review of a topic that we have already covered.  The purpose of the multiple choice questions it to help me better understand what you already know about a topic before it is taught, or what you have learned after it was taught.  The exit tickets will do more of the same, as well as give me more details about your understanding of the topic.

Why do we take assessments?
Many times students may not know what to expect on the first multiple choice exam and question whether the exam will be "hard" or "easy".  Assessments such as quizzes and exit tickets are not a large part of your grade, but they are an important step to preparing for exams.  Multiple choice quizzes will help you prepare for larger exams, and could be used to review in the day or two before the exam when you are studying.  You can also look at your scores on assessments to see which areas you have done well in, and which areas you may need to focus on when studying.
